GRID®/CA$H Databases
GRID® (Graphical Ranking of Investment Descriptors) and
CA$H are proprietary databases of investment manager performance
results, related statistics and distinguishing product characteristics
maintained by Yanni Partners. The databases contain composite
and/or individually managed portfolio results, commingled
fund and mutual fund information from approximately 1,200
investment managers, representing over 5,000 investment products
across all asset classes. There is no charge to participate
in these databases and the product specific information submitted
is for the sole use of Yanni Partners.
CA$H - a companion to the GRID® database - is
limited to managers of short-term liquid money market instruments.
For inclusion in this database, investment products must have
characteristics that fall within specific guidelines. For
example, the average maturity of a product must be less than
120 days, with no one issue greater than 13 months. Product
assets must exceed $10 million and the instruments used must
maintain a high level of liquidity with little to no risk
of principal.
On a quarterly basis, performance and statistical peer group
universes are constructed
from the data within both databases for client reporting and
other consulting projects. Additionally, the GRID®
and CA$H databases serve as the primary resource for
Yanni Partners' consulting staff when conducting manager research
projects, including search cases.
Managers who participate in these databases must maintain
up-to-date performance results as well as company and product
specific profile questionnaires in order to be considered
in the universe of potential investment candidates. Responses
to investment style characteristics such as capitalization,
portfolio selection, maturity and duration, asset allocation,
and many others are coded to better identify each investment
product.
The majority of the data represented in both the GRID®
and CA$H databases is collected through the GRID®
Database Website, which provides investment managers full
control over how their products are presented.
